Music: Girl Talk : Rip Remix Manifesto: FREE album, FREE movie!!

I just downloaded Girl Talk's new album All Day. True to himself, Gregg Gillis has released his 3rd controversial mashup album through his own website, for free!

I had read that the site might be busy for the next few days because of high volume downloading, but it started downloading as soon as I clicked DOWNLOAD

I'm a big fan of Girl Talk, he puts his ass on the line to stand up to the ever unsettled issue that is music ownership/copyright and the laws regarding remixing.

This album was rumoured to never make it to release because the powers that be were threatening to sue and force him to pay for every copyright to every single sample in his music (an unimaginable amount that would put him in debt for life).

I highly recommend you check out one of my favorite docs: RiP: The Remix Manifesto, which was made by the NFB (National Film Board), a Canadian company that I support enthusiastically. It features Girl Talk, tells of his life and his plight for music sharing and remixing rights.

Much like Girl Talk's album above, you can watch this entire doco for free online. This ease of access is made available to you for one important reason - because these artists are fighting for our right to share and create!

The doc explains a lot about the current (ridiculous) state of music copyrights and take my word that you'll relate to it, growing up in this day and age of file sharing.

I've just discovered that there is another movie on the topic entitled Good Copy, Bad Copy (also featuring Girl Talk). I've never seen this, but... would you look at that! It's available right here, for free and can be easily embedded for sharing, as such:
