Life I Lead

We try our best to get out of the house and spend some time together gallivanting about the city. Sunday the 11th of July, we left our humble Richmond abode in fair sunshine and boarded a Sunday Saver train ($3.10 is a discounted fare here!) into the city. We got off at Parliament and waited for a tram only to notice that the next tram was in 13 minutes, so we walked our way to Brunswick street instead. A latte break was well deserved at this point - we stopped in at Mario's where there was some free seating outside. Outdoor spots are scarce in Fitzroy on a sunshiny day! Our lattes were consumed over conversations of how to get our new city blog project off the ground. We wandered around Brunswick street, stopped in a few interesting shops (there are LOTS to choose from) and then decided on dinner at Vegie Bar. I had the Gado Gado and it was absolutely what I was craving: A steamed assortment of vegetables and tofu served with whole nuts and fresh herbs - a large bowl of satay-like orange peanut sauce is served on the side and makes for incredibly tasty bites. I really enjoyed my meal and was inspired to continue eating fresh, organic foods free of dairy, wheat, gluten and yeast (as per my new found allergy restrictions). Sean has the curry of the day, which was equally delicious! On our way home we dropped in on Nick to borrow some DVDs, watched an episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and hit the frog and toad. One day that show will grow on me, I'm sure - but I'm not there yet. Once home, we nestled back into our nook and enjoyed Adventureland, which was clearly marketed in all the wrong ways as it really wasn't the comedic summer flick I expected it to be. It was a very personal, first-person driven love story wrought with all too natural and believable awkward moments truly reminiscent of those teenage years of angst intertwined with puppy love. I loved it.
